What is Spiritual Direction?

Our spiritual lives are one of the most personal parts of who we are as humans. And, while we have friends or mentors that we share some things with we may not always feel comfortable sharing with questions we have about faith or God or any other number of things with someone else.

Spiritual direction is a safe, non-judgmental space for just that.

For questions - all of the questions.

For crying, laughing, swearing and inexpressible joy.

As a Spiritual Director, sometimes called a spiritual companion, I will journey with you - creating a safe space for reflecting and noticing with attentive listening. Together we take a long, loving look at what is real. Through spiritual practices you may find rest and transformation.

My approach to Spiritual direction considers that God is at work in every area of our lives - our relationships, our work, our play, our dreams and quiet. As whole people our spiritual, physical, mental and emotional lives are present in all of these areas, working and supporting each other. God is present in our doubt and frustration and pain as well as in our certainty, our joy, and our healing, but it can be difficult sometimes to discern the Spirit’s presence or movement.

If you're interested in learning more or have questions I'd love to sit with you! Send me an email!

“The whole purpose of spiritual direction is to penetrate beneath the surface of a person’s life, to get behind the façade of conventional gestures and attitudes which they presents to the world, and to bring out their inner spiritual freedom, their inmost truth, which is what we call the likeness of Christ in their soul.”

—Thomas Merton
